Ah, Independence Day. A day filled with food, merriment, and, of course, fireworks.

Every year the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) releases a video warning America of the dangers of fireworks.

And every year they blow up mannequins. Seriously.

The video opens with Acting USCPSC Chairman Ann Marie Buerkle discussing the standard firework safety precautions.

Some facts you may not have known: sparklers can end up being as hot as a blowtorch and people can underestimate the rate of speed for fuses.

Later, the USCPSC shows various mannequins being burned and/or blown up by over the counter fireworks.

Moral of the story, leave the fireworks to the professionals.
