In a company memo, a Facebook executive wrote in June 2016 that the social media platform aims to “connect people” but “[m]aybe someone dies in a terrorist attack coordinated on our tools.” The revelation comes as Facebook deals with the fallout over the Trump campaign’s data firm, Cambridge Analytica, harvesting millions of users’ personal data. The executive, Andrew Bosworth, said on Thursday that the memo was “intended to be provocative” and he “didn’t agree with [the memo] when when I wrote it.”
