Fans Hang ‘Racism Is as American as Baseball’ Sign at Fenway Park

A group of fans at Wednesday night’s matchup between the Boston Red Sox and Oakland Athletics at Fenway Park hung a banner on an outfield wall that read, “Racism is as American as baseball.” Security officials promptly removed the banner and the fans. The banner was hung over the massive wall in left field known as the Green Monster. The incident comes a few months after Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones said fans at Fenway Park threw peanuts at him and called him the n-word.
