‘First’ Muslim Same-Sex Marriage Takes Place in U.K.

Two British men recently married in what is being described as the U.K.’s first same-sex marriage with a Muslim partner, The Independent reported. The couple, Sean Rogen and Jahed Choudhury, said their vows in traditional Bangladeshi attire in a town registry in West Midlands. Choudhury told the Express Star he had been bullied at school and banned from his local mosque because of his sexual orientation. He said he was suicidal and tried to kill himself before meeting his now-husband. Same-sex marriage was legalized in England and Wales in 2013.
