Fresh Prince star Alfonso Ribeiro has dropped a lawsuit against the makers of Fortnite over the videogame’s use of the “Carlton” dance his character famously did on the show. Carlton Banks’ dorky dance to the Tom Jones hit “It’s Not Unusual” became known around the world in the 1990s, and was recreated in Fortnite as a celebration that users can do in the game. In January, Ribeiro sued the makers of Fortnite—Epic Games—claiming the company had stolen his iconic dance. Ribeiro’s lawyers filed documents Thursday in federal court in Los Angeles saying he’s voluntarily dismissing the suit. No specific reason was given, but the legal action received a serious blow last month when federal officials denied Ribeiro a copyright for the “Carlton.”
