In her upcoming book, Hillary Clinton bashes her former Democratic presidential primary rival Bernie Sanders, according to excerpts posted online by Clinton supporters. “[H]is attacks caused lasting damage,” she lamented, “making it harder to unify progressives in the general election and paving the way for Trump’s ‘Crooked Hillary’ campaign.” In another portion, she claimed that “President Obama urged me to grit my teeth and lay off Bernie as much as I could. I felt like I was in a straitjacket.” And despite Sanders inevitably quitting the primary and supporting Clinton in the general election, the former secretary wrote that she felt his support didn’t go far enough. “I am proud to be a Democrat and wish Bernie were, too,” she wrote after admitting she “appreciated” his general-election boost. What Happened is due to hit shelves on September 12.
