There are 68 documented cases of measles in Ohio, and all have been among the Amish, according to health officials. Though the Amish tend to have low vaccination rates, a spokeswoman for the Knox County Health Department said “they have been very receptive to coming in and getting immunized.” The last time a state had a bigger measles outbreak than Ohio’s was in 1996, when Utah had more than 100 cases. Ohio’s outbreak is part of a larger national trend. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday there were 187 documented cases of measles this year, already getting close to last year’s total of 189.
