Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Sunday appeared to walk back his criticisms of Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore. “I’m going to let the people of Alabama make the call,” he said on ABC’s This Week. But just a few weeks ago, after multiple women came forward accusing Moore of sexual misconduct, McConnell was advocating that Moore “step aside” from the race, adding he believes the women who have accused the former state Supreme Court justice. McConnell’s apparent reversal comes as President Donald Trump has adopted a strategy of backing Moore without saying his name, instead opting to bash the Democratic candidate, Doug Jones.
