The practice has recently exploded in the Alpine town of Appenzell, a conservative hamlet whose citizens are now concerned it will become a mecca for the unclad. “It’s freedom. First, freedom in your head; then, freedom of the body,” one nude hiker told the New York Times. The downside? Freezing temperatures. On the other hand, all you need are boots and a backpack.
