Navy Names 10 Sailors Missing After USS McCain Collision; Begins Recovery Effort

The Navy announced Thursday that will begin a recovery mission for the ten sailors missing after the USS John S McCain collision, indicating that they are most likely no longer alive, The Washington Post reported. The names of the missing soldiers were also released. “After more than 80 hours of multinational search efforts, the U.S. Navy suspended search and rescue efforts for missing USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) Sailors in an approximately 2,100-square mile area east of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore,” the Navy’s 7th Fleet said in a statement. So far the Navy has recovered the remains of Electronics Technician 3rd Class Kenneth Aaron Smith, 22, from New Jersey.
