A resounding majority of Americans do not trust President Trump to properly handle the North Korean situation, a new ABC News/Washington Post poll released Tuesday revealed. According to the data, 81 percent of Americans believe the isolated regime poses a threat to the United States–with 66 percent of those seeing it as a “serious” threat. Only 36 percent of those surveyed, however, express trust in Trump’s ability to handle that threat; 63 percent distrust him to handle North Korea, and 40 percent of those Americans trust him “not at all.” Additionally, among those who expressed distrust, concerns about full-scale war with North Korea soared to 83 percent, the poll found. Of course, the distrust is highly partisan: 87 percent of Democrats, 66 percent of independents, and only 19 percent of Republicans said they do not trust Trump on North Korea.
