Special counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly looking into possible money laundering on the part of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort as part of the federal probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. According to The Wall Street Journal, the focus on Manafort began “several weeks ago,” and the Senate and House intelligence committees are also looking into the matter. Manafort, who briefly led the president’s campaign last year, worked for a pro-Russian political party in Ukraine and is alleged to have other financial ties to Russia. Mueller’s team is also looking into whether Trump associates colluded with Russian operatives. A spokesman for Manafort told the Journal that his “personal investments in real estate are all ordinary business transactions.”
