Russia’s deputy foreign minister threatened on Sunday to retaliate against the U.S. over new sanctions imposed on Russia. “We have a very rich toolbox at our disposal. It would be ridiculous on my part to start speculating on what may or may not happen,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on ABC’s This Week. Ryabkov said Russians “are not gamblers” and would consider their options carefully. The U.S. Senate and House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed legislation that slaps new sanctions on Russia, Iran and North Korea, and President Trump has said he will sign it. On Friday, the Russian government ordered that the U.S. send some of its diplomats home, and threatened to take control of some diplomatic facilities.
