Tennis star Serena Williams chimed in on the spate of recent police shootings of young black men in a post on her Facebook page Tuesday, vowing she would not be “silent” on the issue. Williams said her 18-year-old nephew was driving her to a meeting when a sighting of a police officer scared her. “Then I remembered that horrible video of the woman in the car when a cop shot her boyfriend. All of this went through my mind in a matter of seconds,” Williams wrote. “I even regretted not driving myself. I would never forgive myself if something happened to my nephew. He’s so innocent. So were all ‘the others,’” she wrote. “Why did I have to think about this in 2016?”
