Stephen Colbert seems really worried about Kanye West.
“Kanye is getting kind of political,” the Late Show host said, understating the rapper’s abrupt transformation into conservative Trump supporter in recent days. Among the many pro-Trump tweets West posted on Wednesday was a photo of his signed “Make America Great Again” hat with 30 fire emojis.
“Now, that is fitting,” Colbert said. “Because that is how many times I would set that hat on fire.”

TONIGHT: Stephen noticed #Kanye getting "kinda political" on Twitter today. What's up @KanyeWest? Are you angling for a job in the Trump White House? #LSSC pic.twitter.com/pKTSxnOTVe

Colbert suspects that West may be “lobbying” for a job as Trump’s new communications director. “He can just change his name to Kellyanne Kanye,” he joked.
Responding directly to the tweet from West about “dragon energy” and the “right to independent thought” that got the most attention, Colbert said, “Yes, we have the right to independent thought and I independently think that Kanye has lost his mind.
“You know what, Kanye?” he continued, addressing West directly. “Donald Trump is your brother, it is true. I am your brother, too. And brother to brother I just want to say, put the phone down.”
