Steve Bannon Buys Into Bitcoin, Wants to Create ‘Deplorables Coin’

Steve Bannon, Donald Trump’s former chief strategist, has turned his attention to cryptocurrency, investing a “good stake” in bitcoin and planning to create his own “deplorables coin.” The former Breitbart chief executive has, according to The New York Times, held private meetings with crypto investors and hedge funds in which he has discussed working on coin offerings through his own investment business. The report says the alt-right figurehead has expressed an interest in helping entrepreneurs and countries looking to create their own cryptocurrencies. “It’s disruptive populism,” said Bannon in an interview. “It takes control back from central authorities. It’s revolutionary.” He added, somewhat chillingly: “Control of the currency is control of everything.”
