A suicide bomber disguised himself in women’s clothing to carry out an attack at a camp for displaced people in the western province of Anbar, killing at least 14 people, an Iraqi official said Monday. The attack, which the so-called Islamic State claimed responsibility for, took place late Sunday as police were assisting families that had fled from a town controlled by the terrorist group, Anbar councilman Taha Abdul-Ghani said. A police colonel killed in the blast had reportedly approached the attacker and hugged him just before the bomb detonated, presumably to lessen the impact for nearby civilians. Another 20 people were wounded in the attack, authorities said.
