Three suicide bombers, one of them a child, blew themselves up at Nigeria's University of Maiduguri on Monday morning, reportedly killing a professor and another child. One explosion hit a mosque where professors were saying morning prayers, police said. Another blast was set off when police shot a 12-year-old girl who was strapped with explosives at the back of the university. A police spokesman said 15 people were wounded in the attack. President Muhammadu Buhari offered his condolences to those affected by the attack and said the bombers, thought to belong to Boko Haram, “have no true understanding of Islam,” the Associated Press reported. The Islamic extremist group has declared war on Western education, frequently targeting universities. Last month, Buhari said the group was “crushed” thanks to efforts of the military.
