President-elect Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he has selected to nominate Betsy DeVos as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education. DeVos, a Michigan native, is a long-time Republican donor and school reform activist, serving as chairwoman of the American Federation for Children; her husband’s family founded the multi-level marketing titan Amway, and her brother Erik Prince founded private-security firm Blackwater USA. “Under her leadership we will reform the U.S. education system and break the bureaucracy that is holding our children back so that we can deliver world-class education and school choice to all families,” Trump said in a statement.
