President Donald Trump revealed on Twitter Sunday morning that he “strongly pressed” Russian President Vladimir Putin on election meddling, but said it was “time to move forward in working constructively with Russia.” In a series of tweets, Trump wrote: “I strongly pressed President Putin twice about Russian meddling in our election. He vehemently denied it. I've already given my opinion. We negotiated a ceasefire in parts of Syria which will save lives. Now it is time to move forward in working constructively with Russia!” Speaking alongside Poland’s president last week, Trump acknowledged Russia meddled in the election but said “it was probably others also.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after the meeting that Trump “accepted” Putin’s denial of election hacking, but White House officials have denied that account. Trump added later Sunday that he and Putin “discussed forming an impenetrable Cyber Security unit so that election hacking, & many other negative things, will be guarded.”
