U.S. Special Forces on Saturday thwarted an ISIS attack in southern Syria, killing all of the militants involved, according to an NBC News report citing two U.S. military officials. The ISIS fighters, some of whom were wearing suicide vests, sought to attack an entry to a military base with an IED. U.S. Special Forces troops were at the base at the time, and responded swiftly along with Syrian rebels, thwarting the attack with “direct fire and airstrikes,” NBC News reported. No Americans were killed or injured, and “the enemy got crushed,” a U.S. military official told NBC News.
