Two Virginia police officers are dead after a helicopter crashed outside Charlottesville, Virginia Saturday evening, according to a statement by Virginia State Police. The helicopter crashed in a wooded area about seven miles outside the city. No one on the ground was injured, The Daily Progress reported. Police said the helicopter had been assisting public safety resources with the violence in Charlottesville. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, but so far there has been no indication of foul play. “Our state police and law enforcement family at-large are mourning this tragic outcome to an already challenging day,” said Colonel W. Steven Flaherty, Virginia State Police Superintendent.
