A woman “slapped” the back of a Minneapolis police car shortly before Justine Damond was mysteriously shot and killed by an officer last week, according to a newly released search warrant filed by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The police department released the highly redacted files Monday, including the employment and training records of the two responding officers. Damond, an Australian citizen, was killed the night of July 15 after calling 911 to report a possible sexual assault near her home. She waited outside for police to arrive and was shot when she approached the window of the squad car. The files don’t specify if it was Damond who slapped the car, but describes how, “Upon police arrival, a female ‘slaps’ the back of the patrol squad.… After that, it is unknown to BCA agents what exactly happened, but the female became deceased in the alley.”
