The Republican activist who led a hunt for former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s emails listed senior Trump campaign officials in a recruitment document, including multiple people who are now senior White House staff members, the Wall Street Journal reports. Peter W. Smith, whom was reported by the Journal on Thursday to have been in contact with Russian hackers suspected of having ties to the Kremlin, reportedly named officials under a header labeled “Trump Campaign,” followed by : “in coordination to the extent permitted as an independent expenditure.” The officials named reportedly include Stephen Bannon, now President Donald Trump’s chief strategist, Kellyanne Conway, a White House counselor who served as Trump’s campaign manager, and Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, a former campaign advisor who resigned after a brief tenure as Trump’s national security advisor.
