100,000 Cruise Ship Crew Members Still Stuck at Sea

Two months after the coronavirus pandemic shut down the cruise industry, some 100,000 crew members are still stuck on ships, where the virus continues to spread. The Miami Herald reports that 578 crew members have been sickened and at least seven have died—while two more have died by suicide. Some crew members are no longer getting paid while stranded by companies that don’t want to spend the cash on private flights to send them home.
