Transportation regulators acknowledged Friday that the Ride the Ducks vehicle involved in Thursday’s fatal crash in Seattle had not been inspected by state authorities for at least 12 years. The last comprehensive review of Ride the Ducks of Seattle in 2012 took only a sampling of five Ducks for inspection. The duck in Thursday’s crash, Duck No. 6, was not in the sampling. Witnesses to Thursday’s crash have reported the boat appeared to have a mechanical problem with one of its wheels before it fishtailed and slammed into an oncoming charter bus, killing four passengers.
