Only 5 percent of all the March Madness brackets on ESPN predicted that the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a 14th-seed team, would defeat third-seed Iowa State but that’s just what happened. UAB edged out Iowa State, 60-59, after trailing for almost the entire game. In the second huge upset of the day, another 14th-seed team, Georgia State, beat third-seed team Baylor University 57-56.
