Two U.S. Navy civilian police officers were wounded while confronting a knife-wielding man at a Connecticut submarine base, Navy officials said. An officer guarding the base in Groton on Thursday night fired shots at the man, who allegedly had tried to enter through a pedestrian gate. Authorities said one officer was injured by the ricochet of bullets. The second officer suffered a minor stab wound to the leg. Both were treated and released from a local hospital. The suspect, who was not injured, and whose name was not yet released, was taken into custody.
