The Cleveland Indians are leading the Toronto Blue Jays 3-0 in the American League Championship Series (ALCS). It’s a best-of-seven series, which means Tuesday night’s Game 4 could be the Jays’ last game of the season.
Despite making to the ALCS for the second season in a row, the Jays have been bested by the Indians in every game, even when they have home-field advantage—as was the case in Monday night’s game.
Toronto had numerous opportunities to reclaim Monday night’s game, but dropped the ball on every one. Their opponent’s starting pitcher, Trevor Bauer, even had to be taken out after four batters because of a bloody finger.
Despite switching to Plan B early on, Cleveland’s bullpen pulled through with six relievers, while Toronto fudged every opportunity to come back from a 2-4 deficit in the sixth.
What’s more, the Indians are still riding a strong postseason winning streak, after having swept the Boston Red Sox in three games in the American League Division Series.
While the Blue Jays’ chances at the World Series don’t look promising, there’s still the possibility they could come back, although from this point on every game is potentially season-ending.
