Maroon 5 may have shrugged off controversy over their decision to do the 53rd Super Bowl Half Time Show, but even with support from Big Boi and Travis Scott on Sunday night, the group was dragged mercilessly on Twitter for their performance. The unlikely trio lived down to low expectations, with a combined performance that moved from Maroon 5's pop hits, to R&B classics, to a controversially shirtless Adam Levine.
Maroon 5 opened with older hits “Harder to Breathe” and “This Love,” Scott came out following an introduction from Squidward from Spongebob Squarepants (referencing the cartoon’s classic “Sweet Victory”), and then performed “Sicko Mode.” Maroon 5 then did “Girls Like You” with an enjoyable choir—and a notably missing Carbi B— and “She Will Be Loved.” Big Boi performed OutKast’s crowdpleaser “The Way You Move” before Maroon 5 closed out with “Sugar” and “Moves Like Jagger.”
The internet quickly destroyed the serpentine show. Take a look.
