Pakistan is reeling after suffering one of the worst traffic accidents in recent years. A bus slammed into a tractor-trailer, killing at least 42 people and injuring 30. The bus reportedly lost control when it hit the tractor-trailer. It was supposed to be carrying just 60 passengers, but 75 were on board. Some passengers claim that the driver, who died instantly, was to blame for reckless driving and attempting to pass another vehicle on a narrow road. Pakistan is known for having one of the world’s worst traffic-safety records. According to Pakistan’s superintendent of the National Highway and Motorway Police, 12,000 to 15,000 people die each year due to poor road conditions, poorly maintained vehicles, and reckless driving.
