A 7-year-old junior drag racer has died after she was involved in a crash competing at the Orlando Speed World Dragway. Elienisse Diaz Rodriguez was “making her first runs” in the competition Saturday when the crash occurred, according to Dragzine.com. The first-grade student had been behind the wheel of a junior dragster, which is a small vehicle that can reach up to 85 miles per hour. Administrators at Eastland Christian School, where Rodriguez was enrolled, remembered her as a “bright light in our school community.” “Her beautiful smile will be deeply missed by all of us,” the statement said. A GoFundMe page has been launched to raise money for her family. Rodriguez was reportedly part of a “die-hard racing family.” Her father even named his car after her.
