A Century of Fashion Photography at Condé Nast

Fashion images are no longer restricted to advertisements and magazine spreads. Over the years, high-fashion editorials have begun to surface on the walls of prestigious museums and in the homes of art collectors around the world. Partly due to legendary publisher Condé Nast and his eye for talent, his flagship publication, Vogue, has been responsible for launching the high-profile careers of history’s most talented fashion photographers. A new exhibit, Coming Into Fashion: A Century of Fashion Photography at the Palais Galleria in Paris, highlights 160 prints and 100 original magazines featuring works by Edward Steichen and Helmut Newton—who created a niche for this photography genre in the early 20th century and were among some of the publication's first hires—as well as some of today’s most recognized fashion photographers, including Bruce Weber, Corinne Day, Steven Meisel, Peter Lindbergh, and Mario Testino. The exhibition is on display through May 25.
