In the last two decades, the concept of virtual reality has gone from the stuff of science fiction to, with the likes of Oculus Rift, an actual reality. But while we think of it more as the next phase of video games, the developers of ‘Use of Force’ are employing the technology to raise social awareness.

Watch as unsuspecting BuzzFeed staffers test out ‘Use of Force’—an experience based around the real-life death of Anastasio Hernandez Rojas, an undocumented immigrant who was beaten to death by U.S. Border Patrol in 2010—and then talk about how it affected them.
