Former New England Patriots player and current murder suspect Aaron Hernandez seems to have led a darker, more troubled life than many previously thought. According to a Rolling Stone investigation, Hernandez from early childhood was surrounded by drug dealers and criminals and grew into an avid user of angel dust. The report also says that Hernandez had also cut himself off from family and teammates, preferring the company of “a cohort of gangsters.” And, perhaps most damningly, writer Paul Solotaroff uncovered evidence suggesting that Hernandez’s college football coach may have helped him cover up failed drug tests and two incidents of violence: an assault and a drive-by shooting outside of a bar.
