ABC has decided to move forward with a rumored Roseanne spinoff — working title, The Connors — without the involvement of the original show’s creator and star, Roseanne Barr. The news comes less than a month after the network cancelled its wildly popular Roseanne reboot after Barr posted her racist tweet about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett. The 10-episode series is scheduled to premiere this fall and will feature all of the other series regulars, including John Goodman as Dan, Laurie Metcalf as Jackie and Sara Gilbert as Darlene. Barr will reportedly have no financial or creative involvement after reaching a undisclosed settlement with producer Tom Werner. ABC has said a “sudden turn of events” will help explain the Roseanne character’s abrupt absence. “I regret the circumstances that have caused me to be removed from Roseanne,” Barr said in a statement. “I agreed to the settlement in order that 200 jobs of beloved cast and crew could be saved, and I wish the best for everyone involved.”
