New Zealand police have charged Phil Rudd, the drummer of AC/DC, with attempting to arrange a murder, threatening to kill, and possession of methamphetamines and cannabis. The Australian-born rocker, 60, allegedly tried to have two men killed. He appeared in a New Zealand court, but entered no plea, and is scheduled to return in three weeks. Rudd was released on bail and ordered to have no contact with the man he allegedly tried to hire to carry out the killing. The names of the men Rudd allegedly wanted to killed, as well as the intended hitman, were not disclosed. AC/DC said Rudd’s arrest wouldn’t affect their upcoming tour or album. The band recently lost founder and guitarist Malcolm Young to dementia.
