Acting Drug Enforcement Administration head Robert W. Patterson announced his retirement in an email to employees Monday, saying the position had become “increasingly challenging.” Patterson, who will retire in two weeks, has worked for the DEA for 30 years and took over as DEA administrator after Chuck Rosenberg left in October. It was not clear who will lead the agency after Patterson.
