The United States wants Iran to be friendly, but not this friendly. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad landed in Venezuela Saturday for part of his four-nation tour in Latin America. He plans to meet with Hugo Chávez and Cuba’s Raul Castro. While the trip is Iran’s reaction to strict economic sanctions from Europe and the United States, the nation has not kept promises it’s made to Latin American allies in the past. After visiting Chávez, Ahmadinejad will go to Nicaragua, then Cuba and Ecuador.
