For Saturday Night Live’s 42nd season, Alec Baldwin will play the role of Donald Trump, replacing the show’s announcer and ex-cast member Darrell Hammond, who has done the impersonation since returning in 2014. According to Hollywood Reporter, the show’s executive producer Lorne Michaels made the decision to hire Baldwin (the show’s most frequent guest host at 16 times) for the job. The impersonation follows in SNL’s recent string of celebrity cameo impersonations of politicians—most notably with Larry David reprising his wildly popular Bernie Sanders character multiple times throughout season 41.
