All four Republican presidential candidates who appeared on the debate stage Thursday night pledged to support the party’s nominee, even if it’s Donald Trump. Marco Rubio, who sells #NeverTrump merchandise on his website, said he would support Trump if he becomes the nominee because he says neither Democrats Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders is a suitable option for president. Sen. Ted Cruz added he would “because I gave my word that I would,” while Ohio Gov. John Kasich agreed before concluding, “I kind of think that before it’s all said and done, I’ll be the nominee.” Trump, who has threatened to run as a third-party candidate, said he will support the nominee if it’s not him. Ben Carson, the fifth remaining GOP candidate, did not attend the debate.
