There has always been a lot of buzz about Joseph Altuzarra. The 30-year-old designer has won countless fashion-industry accolades, and is seen as a major player in the New York fashion scene.
But it was just announced that the designer would receive a major investment from Kering (formerly PPR), the French luxury company that owns Balenciaga and Gucci. The collection that he showed on Saturday night had already been finished at the time of the announcement—but Altuzarra says that he'll use the investment to strengthen his company's infrastructure.
The clothes Altuzarra showed on Saturday were all about ease: blouses came slightly undone, cropped jackets were layered over sweaters, and long white Henleys were paired with glittering, liquid gold skirts. It all evoked a relaxed sense of dishabille.
A standout piece was an oversized white cape with black trim—which will surely be a coveted item next spring.
