John and Teenuh Foster have passionately collected anonymous snapshots for over 15 years. Their collection of images have been exhibited at over 12 museums across the country, including the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA and currently is being shown at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. This collection of Halloween masks and costumes in everyday snapshots were selected, according to Foster, for their ability to evoke new, unintended stories. In 2005, Foster was named one of the “Top 100 Art Collectors” in the United States by Art & Antiques Magazine. Foster is a writer for Design Observer, an online magazine with news and critical essays on design, urbanism, social innovation and popular culture. More of Foster’s collection can be found on his website, Accidental Mysteries.
