At this weekend’s star-studded GLAAD awards in Los Angeles, actress Amber Heard stepped out with her partner and opened up about being a lesbian for the first time. Heard, who starred in movies such as The Stepfather, Pineapple Express and Alpha Dog, talked with AfterEllen.com about struggling with being openly gay in Hollywood and deciding to reveal her sexual orientation. “I think GLAAD [Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation] is one of the many reasons that I, as a 24-year-old, can come out,” she explained. “I can’t be a part of the problem. I hate the idea of a label just as much as anyone else but I’m with who I’m with, I love who I love.” Heard attended the ceremony with her long-time partner, photographer Tasya Van Ree. “She’s so beautiful,” Heard said of Van Ree. “I mean, you’d have to be crazy not to want to go out with her!”
