Amber Tamblyn and Rose McGowan are in the midst of a very public fight on social media, after falling out over a plan by some actresses to wear black to the Golden Globes next month as a mark of protest against sexual harassment in the entertainment industry.

McGowan, whose testimony against Harvey Weinstein to New Yorker reporter Ronan Farrow that the producer raped her in 1997 was critical to exposing the predatory movie mogul, criticized the planned protest, which has been backed by actresses such as Meryl Streep and Tamblyn, and suggested the actresses all wear Marchesa, the label run by Weinstein's estranged wife Georgina Chapman.

Tamblyn replied:

Asia Argento, who has also alleged sexual assault by Weinstein, then criticized Tamblyn's public attack on McGowan.

Tamblyn, who has alleged that the actor James Woods tried to pick her up when she was underage, replied.

McGowan's Charmed co-star Holly Marie Combs shot back:

Tamblyn replied: "Her statement was public and hurtful to some women so a public response was earned. I spoke to her at length today, she knows how I feel. I love Rose fiercely, that will never change. To be critical of an action is not to condemn the person behind it. There’s your common message."

That may be true. But as general advice, starting a public spat with Rose McGowan right now might not be the best way to win friends and influence people.
