Kurdish soldiers fighting ISIS in Syria say that they captured five foreign militants, including an American who sent his resume to the extremist group, according to Stars and Stripes. Warren Christopher Clark, of Texas, is one of two Americans detained in a raid near the country’s border with Iraq, the Syrian Democratic Forces announced Sunday. These alleged fighters were poised to attack the many civilians fleeing the war-torn area, SDF also said. Authorities with the U.S.-backed anti-ISIS coalition could not immediately confirm SDF’s claims, but said “the incident is under investigation,” per Stars and Stripes. Clark, 34, had reached out to ISIS hoping to secure a nonmilitary role in the organization, researchers in George Washington University’s Program on Extremism said in a February report, previously reported by NBC. Clark, who is said to have one glass eye, reportedly applied to be an English teacher for ISIS in Mosul, which was previously ISIS’s capital in Iraq.
