The State Department announced Tuesday that American citizens were among those killed and injured at the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan, this weekend, where the Taliban attacked and held a group of victims for 13 hours. It is not yet clear how many of the 22 people killed were U.S. fatalities, but 14 of those were not native to Afghanistan. “We offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who were killed and wish for the speedy recovery of those wounded,” the State Department said. “Out of respect for the families of the deceased, we have no further comment.”
