In March, Telegraph journalist Neil McCormick sat down with Amy Winehouse at Abbey Road studios for what would be her last official interview. The singer had just recorded a duet with the legendary Tony Bennett, which had terrified her. "I'm not going to cry," she said when Bennett took her hand before they started singing. McCormick writes that she was "fidgety and uncomfortable" while they sang, but grew more bold and soulful with each take. "I'm my own worst critic," she said afterward, "and if I don't pull off what I think I wanted to do in my head, then I won't be a happy girl." McCormick said Winehouse looked healthier than he had seen her in years, "tanned and fuller-figured." She told him she wasn't "a natural-born performer," but that "the minute you go on stage, everything is OK."
