Andrew Cuomo Beats Cynthia Nixon in New York Democratic Gubernatorial Primary

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo won the state's gubernatorial Democratic primary against actress and challenger Cynthia Nixon. Cuomo recently spent over $8 million in three weeks against Nixon’s progressive bid, and top party officials overall supported the governor. In recent days, Cuomo had taken strong stances against Trump and “listing his achievements” to counter Nixon’s platform, which supporting single-payer health care, new public-school funding, universal rent control, and a large-scale revamp of New Yor’'s subway system. Cuomo now faces GOP Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro in November’s general election.
