ABC anchor David Muir was mocked on social media for using wooden clothespins to style his flame-retardant jacket while reporting from the scene of the devastating Los Angeles-area wildfires. During a standup shot across the street from charred rubble in the Palisades area on Wednesday, Muir turned around to point to the damage behind him, revealing two clothespins holding his yellow jacket tighter around his torso. “Nice Jacket Bro. Glad you look nice and svelte with those clothes line pegs, while our city burns to the ground,” Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack wrote on the social media platform X. The user also tagged Elon Musk in the post, apparently hoping the world’s richest man would repost it for his 211 million followers. The clothespins are a standard TV trick for quickly styling reporters on the run. Some X users also speculated the clips were holding the wire for Muir’s lapel microphone in place, while others thought it was funny, distasteful or both that he had taken the time to cinch the jacket in the middle of a wildfire report.
